Besides production of PET-Flakes with our especially developed in-house washing technology, we are also able to produce food-approved flakes and regranulate at our production location. Here we combine the technology of Vacurema-extruder and Starlinger Viscostar. In addition to the "food-approval" we are also able to produce every desired IV-value or colour. At the end of 2009 we submitted a petition to EFSA Brussels in accordance with EU-regulation 282/2008 to get a food-accreditation that is valid throughout Europe. The status-quo of the EU-food-contact-approval- process can be checked at the following LINK.
Unfortunately we, like any other submitter, are still not accredited, although the specified transition period of the EU-regulation 282/2008 has already passed. As a response to our inquiry we got the information that the EU-committee will not issue the corresponding certificates until the end of 2014. That means, until then the national laws will be applicable in each EU-member state. For the documented evidence of conformity of food-approval we can provide you our petition (issued by Fraunhofer Institutes), which we submitted to EFSA Brussels, the NOLs (non objection letter) concerning food-approvals by FDA (USA), and our EU-food contact status quo at EFSA. |
